York Mind is delighted to announce that it has been chosen to benefit from York’s 2016 Community Carol Concert held at the Barbican.

York Mind was formed in 2011 by the merger of two local mental health charities, Our Celebration and York & District Mind. At the time the two organisations had a combined age of 84 years and had already helped thousands of local people in their recovery from mental ill-health. Our Celebration opened in 1985 and York & District Mind affiliated to Mind in 1956 and first registered as a charity in 1972.

We work with young people aged from 13 years and adults up to the age of 80+ with mental ill-health, learning disabilities, sensory and physical impairments and communication difficulties. We offer services that help individuals who are experiencing emotional distress, recovering from mental ill-health and who manage enduring mental ill-health. We support individuals to achieve self-determined outcomes including into volunteering, education and employment and to engage with activities and services within York Mind and externally, which help support and maintain their health-and well-being in a positive way.
