The Press have chosen York Against Cancer to be their nominated charity to benefit from the 2019 Carol Concert at the York Barbican.
Since the Carol Concert began in 1958 The Yorkshire Evening Press (as The Press was known then) have supported many local charities
Up until 1985 it had always supported their own "Toy Fund" for local children but from 1986 they set up an annual community appeal for different local charities which has included: St Leonard's Hospice, The Special Care Baby Unit, York Mind, York Foodbank and more recently The Island.
Julie Russell, General Manager at York Against Cancer, said "We are really grateful to The Press for nominating our charity for this year's Community Carol Concert and look forward to a very entertaining and successful festive event"
York's Annual Community Carol Concert takes place on Sunday 15 December at 2.30 pm with tickets going on sale from the York Barbican Box Office from Monday 1 July.
Finally the York Community Carol Concert returns to the York Barbican
