Please arrive early for Carol Concert

York’s Annual Community Carol Concert held at York Barbican next weekend has nearly sold out with only a handful of tickets remaining for this popular festive event.

The organisers are absolutely delighted with the public response but are mindful of the fact the concert had a delayed start last year because of late-comers, having problems with car parking and the city centre roads being busy.

Those attending are encouraged to make arrangements and arrive early to avoid traffic congestion and busy car parks.

Due to in-house enhanced security procedures, patrons are advised not to bring large shopping bags or back-packs as they will not be allowed to be taken into the auditorium.

Although the concert starts at 2.30 pm there will be access to the York Barbican from 1.30 pm with the auditorium doors opening from 2.00 pm.

Seasonal refreshments will be available at the venue.

Over 200 young people will be appearing on stage this year with representatives from York Light Youth Choir, Shepherd Group Youth Band, All Saints RC School Combined Choir and Hempland Primary Academy “Hempland Starling”.

Steve Cassidy will lead the ensemble with a Christmas medley whilst musical director, Mike Pratt will be conducting the Community Carols. The afternoon will be hosted by Rev Andrew Foster and BBC Radio York’s, Adam Tomlinson.

Hurry along to the Barbican box office to snatch up those remaining seats – but don’t leave it too long – and please don’t turn up late.
