We're Back !!

At last, York's Annual Community Carol Concert returned with over 1000 people in the York Barbican refurbished auditorium.

The Shepherd Group Concert Brass Band led the way playing entrance music as the audience made their way to their seats for an afternoon of festive fun.

Hosts, Andrew Foster and Adam Tomlinson, introduced Clifton Green Primary School and Dringhouses Primary School choirs along with Stamford Bridge Community Choir who also accompanied York's own Steve Cassidy with a Christmas sing-along of popular Christmas songs.

One lucky person, sat in the stalls, row H seat 21, won a Christmas hamper donated by Tesco Extra (Askham Bar) and over 30 children from the audience were invited onto the stage to sing "Away in a Manger" and were presented with a chocolate bar from Father Christmas himself!!

The seated and masked audience were led in the community carols by musical director Mike Pratt with a stirring rendition of "While Shepherds Watched" to the tune of Ilkley Moor - always a favourite with the carol concert regulars.

A huge thank you goes to all participants and to those people in the audience who attended and got their Christmas celebrations off to a cracking start - supporting the Lord Mayor and Sheriff of York's Christmas Cheer Fund and also St Leonard's Hospice ("The Press" nominated charity).

Put Sunday 11 December 2022 in your diary for next years Annual Community Carol Concert to be held at York Barbican. Surely a date not to be missed.
